May 27, 1985 - December 20, 2012
Colby Duckett Bostick, passed from this life on Thursday, December 20, 2012 in Webster City, Iowa traveling to Texas for the holidays. Colby was born in Gadsden, Alabama on May 27, 1985 to parents, Buddy and Sharon Duckett, and was raised in Crossville, Alabama. She graduated from Crossville High School in 2004, and went on to graduate from Gadsden State Community College with a degree in Radiologic Technology. She married the love of her life, Cody Lee Bostick in College Station, Texas in 2011, and on November 18, 2011 they welcomed their son, Easton Lee Bostick, into the world in Gadsden, Alabama. Colby prided herself in being a small-town southern girl. She grew up with blonde hair, blue eyes, and a big smile working her way right into a head cheerleading position in high school, but was quick to brag about her trash-talking skills as a catcher in softball. She knew everyone and stuck up for anyone. Upon graduating from high school, she attending Snead State Community College where she served on the Welcoming Committee, a role she cherished. She continued her education at Gadsden State, graduating at the top of her class. Her friends there remember her as a sweet, funny, girl who was quick to laugh and lend a helping hand. After graduation, Colby took a job with Southeastern Pain Management as an x-ray technician. Employees there loved her, commended her work ethic and positive attitude. She built relationships that carried over as she left for Texas to marry the boy she met on a cruise ship in Alaska in 2003. She said the happiest day of her life was when she learned she was pregnant with her son, Easton. It was at that time she explained to her husband it was time to go home to Momma and Daddy in Alabama. After the birth of Easton she recognized her true calling in life was being a mommy. She relished this role of being a homemaker, taking care of her family, and making sure they had everything she could give them to succeed, mainly her love. Colby loved to document the accomplishments and stepping stones of her small family through pictures and clever comments on Facebook and Instagram. In addition to her talents as wife and mother, she had a passion for crafts and a slight addiction to Pinterest even starting up a wreath making business, Dixieland Décor, while in Crossville. Colby helped her husband in the pursuit of his career as a wind technician. She packed her family up and moved to Clear Lake, Iowa where her husband’s first wind job was located. On the day she arrived in Clear Lake, she learned her family was about to grow, and a week later learned she was carrying twins. She declared this to be the second happiest day of her life. When Cody and Colby learned the twins were a boy and a girl, Colby was quick to name them Eli Ray, and Emmory Jane. Colby left friends from Alabama, Texas, and Iowa. She loved friends, family, and most of all, her husband and son to whom she gave her life. She was loved dearly and will be missed terribly.
