Norma Jean Parker

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norma Jean Parker, age 78 a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. Norma was born on Sunday, September 14, 1947 in Crossville, Alabama and departed this life on Sunday, March 1, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Norma devoted her life as a homemaker and cherished her family and friends. A renowned cook, especially for her biscuits, chicken and dressing and a variety of desserts to include fried apple pies and peanut butter cookies, her recipes are in use by many households today. Norma had an adventurous spirit and loved traveling the country with son, Paul and his wife, Bev. She never met a stranger and was always full of joy and compassion that she freely shared with others. Norma loved sports, especially Alabama football and girls’ softball. She coached the softball team for her daughters, Jodie Lynn and her friends. The Bandits were a dominant team in the area for many years. Her house was full of tournament trophies, but what she loved most was her relationships with the young ladies and she loved them dearly. Norma was also a substitute teacher at Crossville for 23 years. Interacting with the staff and students brought her such great joy. Norma is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Johnny Parker, her sons, Tim Parker (Jan) and Paul Parker (Beverly), grandchildren, Megan Efthimiadis (Sakis), Ethan Parker (Chanelle), Mathin Parker (London), Rebecca Parker, Abby Darnell (Zack), Raigan Willkie, Brady Willkie (Hannah) and Ruby Gurtler. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Carlos Efthimiadis, Chloe, Alexandra and Mackenzie Parker, Everly Jo and Audrey Norma Jean Parker and Beckett Darnell, sister, Ethel West as well as many nieces and nephews who hold a special place in her heart. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Beulah Bowman, daughter, Jodie Lynn Parker, brothers, Robert “Buck” Bowman, Loy Bowman, Billy Bowman and Henry Bowman, sisters, Ida Hampton, Georgia Fletcher, Gertrude Croft and Martha “Sis” Marbutt. Norma’s funeral service will be conducted by Crossville Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. For family and 5:00 p.m. Until 7:00 p.m. For friends. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Interment to follow at the Blessing Church of Christ Cemetery. Jeffery Graves, Paul Parker and Daniel Oliver will officiate her service. Pallbearers will be Mathin Parker, Ethan Parker, Brady Willkie, Zach Darnell, Joe Bowman and Mark Harrison. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Heartlite Hospice.
